Naples to the Amalfi Coast

Setting Off Along the Coast

We joined a day trip from Naples, setting off early for a full day along the Amalfi Coast.

The drive itself quickly became part of the experience. The road curved along the cliffs, opening up to wide views of the sea, with towns appearing one after another along the coastline.

A Stop in Sorrento

Our first stop was Sorrento.

It felt bright and relaxed, with small streets lined with shops and local produce. Lemon trees were everywhere, and the views stretched out toward the sea with Mount Vesuvius quietly in the distance.

We took our time walking around, enjoying the slower pace before continuing the journey.

Along the Amalfi Coast

As we continued, the scenery kept changing.

Cliffs, pastel houses, and the deep blue sea, each turn felt different from the last. Even from the bus, it was hard to look away.

We stopped for lunch at Conca dei Marini, a quiet coastal spot along the Amalfi Coast.

It was simple and unhurried, just a local restaurant, a plate of pasta, and a glass of white wine, with the sea right in front of us. Nothing fancy, but it felt just right for the day.

Positano: First Glimpse

Later, we arrived in Positano.

From above, the rows of colorful houses seemed to cascade down toward the water. It looked exactly like the photos, but standing there, it felt more real.

Down to the Coast

We made our way down toward the coast, walking through narrow paths and quiet streets.

It was winter, so it wasn’t crowded, and some shops were closed but we actually preferred it that way. It felt calmer, more open, and easier to take in.

By the shore, our daughter played with the pebbles while we sat nearby, just watching the waves.

Along the way, I came across a small painting by a local artist. It was a simple piece, but I wanted to bring something back, not just as a memory, but also to support the artist during the quieter off-peak season. It felt like a small but meaningful part of the day.

A Different View from the Sea

We also took a short boat ride along the coastline.

It was amazing to see everything from the sea, the cliffs rising higher, the houses layered above one another, and the coastline stretching further than we could see from land. It gave us a completely different perspective of the Amalfi Coast.

A Quiet Stop at Amalfi Cathedral

Just before we headed back, we stopped by the Amalfi Cathedral (Duomo di Amalfi).

We spent a little time on the wide staircase, sitting in the soft sunlight and simply resting. After a full day of moving from place to place, it felt like a quiet pause, just enjoying the moment.

Heading Back to Naples

By late afternoon, around 4, the tour came to an end and the bus brought us back to Naples.

It had been a full day, but it never felt rushed, just one beautiful view after another, with time to enjoy each moment.

This was easily one of the most beautiful days of our trip.
