A Day to Remember
Day 11 turned out to be my favourite of the entire trip, one of those days that stays quietly with you long after it ends. We started the morning at Karlsplatz and boarded the bus for our castle tour.
Linderhof Palace
Our first stop was Linderhof Palace, a smaller but incredibly ornate palace built by King Ludwig II. It was the only one he completed in his lifetime, which made the visit feel even more special. The elegant architecture, detailed interiors, and peaceful surroundings reflected his love for beauty and imagination.
Through Bavaria
From there, we continued through the scenic Bavarian countryside toward Hohenschwangau. We took some time to explore the small village and nearby shops before making our way toward Neuschwanstein Castle.
Neuschwanstein Castle
It was here that my admiration for King Ludwig II deepened. There is something about his quiet and imaginative nature, his love for art and detail, that feels different. Standing there, seeing his vision come to life, it felt less like a castle and more like a dream shaped into reality.
We stopped for lunch near the base, a warm and comforting break before continuing the climb. The walk up was gentle but steady, with crisp air and beautiful mountain views all around.
A View Like a Dream
When the castle finally came into view, standing against the rugged landscape, it felt almost unreal. Like stepping into a story you’ve only seen in pictures.
From the viewpoints, the scenery opened up into wide valleys and distant lakes, quiet, expansive, and calm.
A Lasting Feeling
Every part of the day felt meaningful, the scenery, the stories, and the small moments in between. It’s the kind of place that stays with you, and one I know I would return to someday.
