Arriving in Hallstatt
Day 8 took us to Hallstatt, one of the most scenic villages in Austria — and it really felt like stepping into a postcard.
Set between the lake and the mountains, everything here felt calm and perfectly placed. The water was still, the air was crisp, and the views were quietly stunning without trying too hard.
Exploring the Village
We spent the morning walking through the village.
Wooden houses lined the narrow streets, church towers rose above the rooftops, and every corner seemed to open up to another beautiful view. It wasn’t crowded, which made it even more enjoyable — just us, the lake, and the mountains.
A Small Local Moment
As we wandered, we met a local artist painting scenes of Hallstatt.
His work reflected exactly what we were seeing — peaceful, simple, and full of quiet beauty. We brought one piece home with us, not just as a souvenir, but as a small way to remember this place.
By the Lake
The lake was the highlight.
With the mountains surrounding it and sunlight reflecting on the water, it was the kind of view you don’t rush. We stopped, looked, and just let the moment settle.
Back in Salzburg
Later in the day, we made our way back and walked through Salzburg again.
The evening felt different — a little more lively, with Christmas lights glowing, market stalls buzzing, and people slowly filling the streets. A nice contrast to the calm of Hallstatt earlier in the day.
A Place That Stays With You
Hallstatt didn’t need to impress — it just quietly did.
It’s one of those places that feels simple, but stays with you long after you leave.
