Sound of Music tour
Day 7 in Salzburg was all about the Sound of Music tour — and it turned out to be one of the most fun and memorable days of our Austria trip.
From the start, the energy was different. Our guide brought the journey to life with stories, music, and just the right amount of humour. Before long, the whole bus was singing along — something we didn’t expect, but quietly enjoyed.
Sound of Music filming locations in Salzburg
We followed the route through some of the most iconic Sound of Music filming locations in Salzburg — quiet tree-lined paths, open fields, and familiar scenes that felt even more special in real life.
It wasn’t just about the movie. Along the way, we learned more about the real von Trapp family — their story, their strength, and the life behind what we had only known on screen.
Mondsee Basilica
One of the stops that stayed with us was Mondsee, where we visited the Mondsee Basilica, known for the wedding scene in the film, the church was calm and beautiful.
Just outside, the lake stretched quietly under the winter sky. It was peaceful, simple, and gave the day a soft pause.
Back in Salzburg
Back in Salzburg, we slowed down again.
We walked through the old town, had a late lunch, and let the evening unfold naturally. No rush, no plans — just enjoying the city in our own time.
A DAY THAT STAYS WITH YOU
Some days are fun.
Some days are meaningful.
This one was both.
What started as a tour became something more — music, stories, laughter, and small moments that stayed with us long after the day ended.
This day is part of our Austria Winter Journey. You can read the full itinerary here.
