A Sweet Start to the Day
Our first full day in Rome started with a small but memorable moment, our first Italian gelato.
It was simple, but somehow it set the tone for the day. Just enjoying the moment before heading out to explore.
Trevi Fountain: A Small Tradition
With that little boost, we made our way to the Trevi Fountain.
Even in winter, it was lively. We joined the tradition and tossed a coin into the fountain, hoping it would one day bring us back to Rome.
The Pantheon: Quietly Standing Strong
From there, we walked to the Pantheon.
Standing in front of it, it’s hard to believe how long it has been there. No need for explanation—it simply stands there, solid and timeless, quietly impressive.
Wandering Through Rome
We continued exploring on foot, moving through streets, across bridges, and past small corners that felt just as memorable as the main landmarks.
Rome didn’t feel rushed. It gave us space to slow down, walk, and take things in at our own pace.
Vatican Museums: A Guided Experience
In the afternoon, we joined a guided tour of the Vatican Museums.
It made a difference. Moving through the galleries with context and stories helped us appreciate what we were seeing so much more. The Gallery of Maps stood out with its long, detailed corridors, while the ceilings felt endless, each one more intricate than the last.
Our daughter was especially curious, stopping often to look closer and ask questions.
Watching her take it all in made the experience feel even more meaningful, less about rushing through, more about discovering together.
Ending the Day
By the time we stepped back out into the cool Roman evening, we were tired, but in a good way.
It had been a full day of walking, exploring, and taking in both the big sights and the quiet moments in between.
